Pilipino-American Student-Alumni Mentorship Social

All alumni are invited to network with fellow alums, meet the current Filipino student community, and enjoy great Filipino food!

Student-Alumni Social on Thursday, March 9, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Alumni House.

Anatalio Ubalde (B.A. Architecture 1995, M.A. City Planning 1997), Partner and Chief Operating Officer of GIS Planning, Inc., is our keynote speaker. Mr. Ubalde will share thoughts on Filipino Americans in the business/entrepreneurial sector and how his experience at Cal paved his path today.

Anatalio Ubalde is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer for GIS Planning Inc., an economic development internet strategy company. Mr. Ubalde works with organizations throughout the nation to foster enhanced economic development strategies using Internet technology. Some of these communities include New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Portland, and Honolulu and as well as the states of Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Tennessee, Georgia, and Indiana. His company's strategies are implemented in over 90 communities, 27 states and serve 40% of the 50 largest cities in the United States. His work in geographic information systems, economic development and the Internet is featured in The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and the U.S. Department of Commerce "Innovative Local Economic Development Programs" publication. Mr. Ubalde is the recipient of the International Economic Development Council Outstanding Economic Developer of the Year Award. He has advised and lectured on this subject throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

He has both a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture (honors) ('95) and a Masters degree in City Planning ('97) from U.C. Berkeley. He was a Member of the Cal Men's Diving team and was awarded the U.C. Berkeley Outstanding male scholar-athlete of the year in 1995. His picture is in the Swimming & Diving team display case in the Cal Basketball arena. After "retiring" from the sport at the end of college, he went on to win four United States Master's Diving National Championships in springboard diving.
