Letter to Our Fellow PAAC Alumni – State of the Chapter
January 2006
During my first year of service in 2004, I shared how it was an honor to serve my University and Alumni Community, “a community where I groomed my skills as a student.” My personal experience of re-connecting with both our current alumni and our future alumni (i.e. the current students) has been truly a blessing. This State of the Chapter will be my last formal annual report for you. Thank you for the experience!
Next year, in 2007, we will celebrate PAAC’s 20th Anniversary of its founding. PAAC is already planning a gala event to celebrate the anniversary. We hope you will be a part of this truly special event!
In preparation for our anniversary year, this current year will mark a transition year for PAAC as the chapter will appoint a new leadership team in May 2006. As I have shared, there is no greater satisfaction than “service” to the greater good of the community. I hope you will take on the challenge and commitment of service by sharing your time and resources. To fulfill PAAC’s potential, your shared resources of time and money is critical. As in all efforts, no contribution is too small.
In 2005, PAAC remained committed to its three goals – Membership Recruitment, Greater Visibility within Community, and Scholarship. In the continuing effort to grow PAAC’s reach to our alumni and community, the activities and efforts in the past year reinforced the chapter’s goals.
- PAAC recognized as a Charter Organization by the California Alumni Association, resulting in more financial and logistical resources for future events
- The PAAC/Grace Asuncion Scholarship recipient (Jovy Estremos, 2nd year) awarded last September for the second consecutive year
- The launch of the PAAC/Jesse Ante Scholarship Endowment last December
- An inspirational speech by Agnes Briones Ubalde (Executive Director, Small Business Commission of San Francisco) at the PAAC Student Alumni Mentorship Dinner last March
- Record attendance at our happy hours in San Francisco, LA Metro, and NY Metro
- Recruitment of new members through active outreach in the alumni and student communities
- Building a solid infrastructure for future growth
PAAC is an independently run, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization that operates through the generosity of its members and extended community. PAAC does not have membership dues, nor does PAAC receive direct financial support from the University or the CAA. Last summer, PAAC raised $1150 in donations and pledges through generous donors, your fellow alumni, for the club’s operating costs. PAAC’s annual fundraising campaign is critical to the viability and future growth of our alumni club. Without financial resources, we cannot continue to offer the quantity and quality of events that we hold each year – e.g. happy hours, wine tasting event, donor appreciation dinner, student mentorship/recruitment, web site, etc. Your active participation, enthusiasm, and creativity are essential to PAAC’s success. Thank you for your continued generosity!
